I am currently working on a book manuscript in which I examine diversity issues in the veterinary medical profession. It is one of the most White-dominated professions in the US economy. It is also women-dominated. I designed a study to uncover how members of the veterinary medical profession construct, justify, and resist occupational homogeneity. I interviewed 44 veterinary medical college students and employed veterinarians about their career journeys.
